Still bored, but coping
May. 22nd, 2006 01:21 amWe went to the park twice today, Lake Crabtree County Park. Lake Crabtree is a manmade lake, part of their Crabtree Creek flood control system, I believe. It's been a while since I saw the sign. It's a pretty little park. We went there first for breakfast (stopped at McD's for biscuit sandwiches & coffee, then Lowe's Foods for donuts: good deal there, we used 3000 greenpoints and got 6 donuts for 89 cents), then did a repeat for dinner.
Breakfast we sat just off the first parking lot, since I didn't want to go in any deeper, but dinner we went to the second lot, which had tables closer to the lake and the tiny strip of sand. Part of our amusement during breakfast was watching a pretty determined inchworm make his way across the picnic table. The gaps between planks were a small obstacle for him. Pause, stretch, wave front end in the air, "Okay, can't quite reach across there. I'll move down some and try again." During dinner, we just leaned on each other, watched the water and the sun setting, a duck floating on the lake, and a heron (I think) land on the pier. It was peaceful both times, no real loud families or anything.
I've determined, though, that sometime this summer, I want to rent a canoe and spend a day on the lake. Don't know when it's going to happen, with as worn-out as Matt is from work, school and meeting, but it IS going to happen.
