Interesting
May. 1st, 2006 09:51 amOkay, so four-packs of the Coca-Cola Blak were on sale at Harris Teeter, so I picked one up to try.
It's interesting. Honestly, it tastes familiar, like it's something I've had before, but I can't quite place it. I don't really taste the coffee extract in it, but it does taste sweet, and a little different than regular Coke. Then again, since I've been drinking mostly diet since the pre-diabetes thing, my taste buds might be skewed.
Now here's the part that intrigues me. Looking at the ingredients, I see high fructose corn syrup (no big deal on its own), but also aspartame and acesulfame potassium (ace-K). WTF? Three separate sweeteners???
And why "CocaCola Blak"? Why not just Coffee Coke, or CocaCola with Coffee, like Cherry Coke, Vanilla Coke, or Coke with Lime? What makes this a "Carbonated Fusion Beverage" as opposed to a standard flavored cola?
My final verdict: it's good, and I like it, but until it's not over/around $5 for a 4-pack, it won't be a regular purchase.
