Walkies

Well, I'm back on my walking schedule again. It was 68 degrees with 69% humidity. Yikes. I really really really need to get a shower, but the diswasher is running and I don't know if my poor little water heater can handle both at once. Hopefully the dishwasher will stop soon and I can go hose off (and play with my new razor, yay).

Then I get to scrub the kitchen floor. Whoopie. :-P

Sometimes I think being the housewife really isn't all it's cracked up to be. Then I remember being in the work force, and think, "Hey, what's scrubbing a floor once a week, after all?"

Still, it would be nice to get a paycheck for it. :-P

I was looking around my shower today, and realized I have four razors in there. FOUR!! For someone who only shaves sporadically, that's amazing. Four different brands, too. From oldest to newest, they are:

1. Gillette Sensor for Women. Pastel minty-green, two blades, plastic ovalish handle. Cartridges are still relatively easy to find, and even have off-brand carts available. I've had this one for a number of years, and it's still decent.

2. Noxzema. Bright blue and white, bulbous take on a standard handle, three blades, wire-wrapped. Haven't looked for carts in a while, because I still have six available. I think. Came with a nifty suction-cup holder for the shower. Holder stays on well enough, but bits do tend to pop off when it does fall down. And the razor itself...well, the carts fall off too easy. Probably why I don't use it for much other than decoration at this point. Bought it because the razor, caddy, and two blades were cheaper than a pack of refills for the Sensor.

3. Schick Intuition. Blue-and-white giant handle, plastic, three blades, big old "conditioning solid." Bought it when CVS had them and the carts buy one get one free, mainly because hubby and I were living with his parents at the time and the shower was DARK. I really like it for quick touchups, since I don't have to fiddle with the shave gel. Works really well for quick zippy ankle-to-knee shaves. Anything more than that, and the solid wears down before the blades. The handle feels sort of flimsy and clunky the first few shaves, but it grows on you.

And now, my newest razor...
4. Schick Quattro for Women. Advance sample from their promotional website, available in stores April 1. Silver metal handle with hot pink rubber accents, four blades, wire wrapped. Damn, but this is a sweet razor. Seriously, I used it today and was amazed. I didn't have any of the problems with it that I usually have with wire-wrapped blades. Just zip, zip, zip, smooth and shiny legs. Wow.

Luckily, the razor came with a coupon for money off replacement blades. According to the "manual," you're supposed to change carts every 5 shaves. Yikes.

In comparison, my husband has 2 razors, both Gillete Mach 3s. He used to also keep a pack of disposables in the Jeep in case he forgot to shave before work, but now that we're in our own place, where the bathroom is more convenient (and better lit, and hot water is on demand), he usually remembers to shave and shower before work every day.

And oooh, the humidity is dropping. Yay!
