Whee
Well, I didn't spend ALL day yesterday updating the Castle. I got through the MMPR, Zeo and Turbo universes, though. I would have made it through more, but I was still sort of bummed about the whole feature vs. cheat code thing, so when Matt came home, we got caught up on the two hours of Gilmore Girls we'd missed Friday and Monday, then went out to lunch, then came home and watched that day's ep of GG. So, about four hours there not spent on computer.
I'm pretty pleased with what I'm doing to the individual fic pages. Basically, I'm just converting them all to black text on white background, Tahoma font, and making sure they all have working links at the bottom to the universe page, the main page, and e-mail (complete with story-specific subject header). Plus, I'm fixing ten-year-old typos. A lot of these pages, I did waaaaay back with Netscape Composer (I think that's the name) and/or Notepad, neither of which had built-in spell-checkers back then. I'm revamping in FrontPage 2002, which DOES have a built-in spell-checker. It's a little hard to believe that when Microsoft first started integrating the little red underlines, I used to hate them.
I'm also inserting the code for the invisible stat tracker. I was feeling nostalgic the other day, for when I first started running the Castle. I used to obsessively check my stats every night, and I'd be thrilled every time I saw a hit from outside the US. I only have the stat tracker code on the main universe pages and maybe a third to half of the fics so far, but still, I'm loving being able to see where, geographicaly, my visitors are coming from, as well as how they found my site. Heck, I'm loving the fact that people DO still visit my site, considering how long it's been since I've written a Power Rangers fic!
I still need to hit ff.n and grab my Max Steel fics. Somewhere along the way, on one hard drive cleanup or another, I moved a lot of my fics...elsewhere. I'm not sure if I moved them to a zip disk or a cd, or where said disc is. So, it's grab them off the net and make new files.
I also found a handful of Sailor Moon fics I'd started. Interesting the things you find when you take the time to actually LOOK at what's saved on your webspace. :-P If I take the time to revamp those pages as well, I'll have to add another universe page to my site. Not such a hard thing to do; after all, I just did it for CSI. I'm just wondering if it's worth it, since most of these are incomplete fics, and I doubt I'm going to ever finish them. "Cyber Moon," "Sailor Moon Marvelous," "Shadows of the Moon Kingdom..." All three of them are fics I started, and at one time had massive amounts of notes on, but have since forgotten about.
I woke up about ten minutes before Matt's alarm went off with a screaming headache. I'm wondering if what I read in a fic is true, if your brain membrane actually shrinks a little when you're dehydrated, causing massive headaches. If so, that's probably what this is. I know I don't drink nearly enough water. Yesterday, I had maybe 16 oz of diet Sierra Mist (can be comparable to water, no caffeine) and maybe 16 oz of water at the restaurant. That's only about half the daily amount of water, and I did have a little coffee at home, so that negates some of the water.
But anyway, it's 3:40 in the morning, I just had a glass of water and two Excedrin, the headache is fading, so I'm going to try to grab another 2.5-3 hours of sleep before I have to be in to work.
